When the Wizard is Away, the Apprentices Will Play."
This an Magical "OOPS!" Commission for Mr. Mark Severson. It's done in a combination of colored pencils, watercolors and ink. It's a bit larger than I usually work with, my usual being 10 x 14. I actually started it larger -- around 11 x 16 -- but it was a evil drawing. It started to grow beyond the boundries when I wasn't paying attention. So now it's a bit larger than 12.5 x 18. Bad picture! Bad! But I suppose it's my own fault for being such a lenient artist. I should have smacked it with a rolled up newspaper the minute it began to act up.
"It has arrived! Big! I'm quiet pleased with it. Lots of detail to peruse. Like the salute to Disney's Sorcerers' Apprentice with the broom and bucket. Dragon boy has a look I recognize, seen it in the mirror (sanses horn and ears, my hair on the other hand, while not green has looked like that on occasion) The skull eyeing one makes me think of Dresden and his skull pal, that look just gives me the feel of his personality. Your pony-tailed apprentice reminds me of a character from a Mercedes Lackey book. That look of concentration as she's trying to figure out just what didn't quite go right. Nothings wrong, it's just not quite right. The wizards red eyes give a feeling of anger while his body and facial expression strike me as shocked an perhaps a little resigned, like he's seen this before. I'm not forgetting the cat and the mothmouse. I like both of their expressions, to me the cat looks interested in the mouse, not as a meal more as a curiosity. As for the mouse, he's just having a grand old time checking out his new wings, bit of a stunned look on its face as if it hasn't quite come to grips with its new appendages.
All and all a most pleasing bit of work."

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Light and Dark are both extremes, only from the shadows can we see both sides.
Fantastic artwork, as always. Love the skull with the eyeballs... if someone can find a lower mandible for it, I'll bet it has a lot to say.
